Missionaries To Spain!

Randall and Mary are moving to Spain to be missionaries in the southern Andalusia region. They will start working with a couple of missionaries in Malaga learning the language and culture, then move to Cordoba to start a church plant by teaching music. You can read more about this mission work below or click the contact button and ask any questions you have. They are looking for ministry partners and there are two ways you can partner with them on this mission:

1. When you see 3pm on a clock, pray for them and the people of Spain. Why 3pm? Because Jesus said, "Tetelestai (It is finished)" at 3pm.

2. You can partner with them financially by clicking the "Support Here" button below. They are raising support to  dedicate all their time to ministry and sharing the gospel of Jesus with the locals using their language and culture.

Our Calling and Mission To Spain

After a series of dreams and words from the Lord, confirmations, and lots of prayer, Randy and I went to Spain in fall 2025. We found the plaza de Colón in Córdoba, as well as visiting Sevilla and Malaga.

One balmy October night in Cordoba, Randy and I were singing and playing worship in a plaza between two Catholic churches before a statue of the crucified Jesus that was beautifully lit with lanterns and candles. We met a lady there named Ascension who befriended us. A native of Cordoba, she was drawn by the worship (a mixture of English and Spanish), and when we finished, she asked questions and asked to take us for some refreshments. We spent the next two days getting to know her and her husband. She told us she is a devout Catholic and was drawn by something powerful in our music. Wherever we took our instruments and began to exalt the Lord, there were people that stopped, listened, wept, and were powerfully impacted by our worship of Jesus.

How many times have I sung the song “Send Me?” How many times have I repeated the lyrics, “Here I am, You can have it all, I am available”?

Isaiah 6:8 says, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” and I said, “Here I am. Send me!”

Lord, we don’t understand all of the details, but we are ready to go where you send us and proclaim the gospel - in song, in teaching, and in your Word - to those who have not heard and to those who have never received you!

Communitas was started as a youth outreach in Europe throughout the 70s. Our founder, Linus Morris, came to love those he met during his times in Europe. These outreach trips kindled a longing for new expressions of the church in Europe, cultures that had begun to reject Christianity. Linus and his family moved to Geneva, France in 1980 and planted the church that would become the first of many churches to come out of Communitas International. The love of Jesus and their neighbors drew people to join the organization. As more churches were planted, our approach has continued to evolve to focus on planting contextual churches in each location, churches that love like Jesus in their neighborhoods.

One thing became apparent: God was working in these communities to Transform Lives, Transform Neighborhoods, and Transform our World. You can read more about Communitas International at their website (gocommunitas.org).

Spain is a post-Christian country, meaning people do not see Jesus and the kingdom of God as a necessity. Spain’s state foundation for the support of religious minorities, Pluralismo y Convivencia (Pluralism and Coexistence) has published the Barometer on Religion and Beliefs in Spain (BREC 2025), a study that paints a picture of a religious landscape (evangelicalfocus.org).  The report reveals that 42% of the population of Spain does not identify with any religion, either as indifferent (17%), agnostic (14%) or atheist (11%). Among those who do define themselves as religious, Catholicism remains the majority (46%), while 8% belong to other denominations, and 6% are Muslim. This means, instead of knowing God, reading His word to know His will, and allowing God’s Holy Spirit to lead their lives, people in Spain would rather meditate, light a candle as an offering to some kind of energy, light up some rolled energy, do yoga, or just not believe anything and live life as they see fit.

Here is a great example. We arrive at the restaurant with outdoor seating and the smell of fried food is in the air. A very large man brings us a bowl of olives, which is customary for a local restaurant. Ricardo, our waiter, is from Uruguay and is a large man standing about 6ft 4in tall. In what Spanish we know and with the help of Google Translate, we have a conversation with him about living in Spain as we look over the menus. Ricardo brings our food to us, and we ask him the same question we ask all our taxi drivers, Uber drivers, and servers, “How can we pray for you?” This large man, with tears welling up in his eyes, began to cry and asked us, “What has led you and your husband to have the initiative to want to help people come closer to God and feel good?” And we replied, “Because we love Jesus and we want others to have an opportunity to have a relationship with him!” If this is true for Ricardo, how many others have not heard the hope and truth of the Gospel?

What we would love to see happen in Spain is Jesus touching the hearts of people of all ages, them having a relationship with him, and the kingdom of God growing. We will be sharing our two greatest passions, Jesus and music, in order to build relationships and share the gospel.

Our plan is to spend the first 12 months in Malaga, Spain, with missionaries that have been serving there for over 10 years so we can learn the language and culture. We want to use what they know, their language, their surroundings, to point people to Jesus. During those months, we will visit Cordoba to start establishing roots and discern where and what a church plant may look like. We will then move to Cordoba, Spain, which has a population over 350,000.

Once in Cordoba, we will use music as a tool to reach the community. Music is universal and we noticed on our exploratory trip that Spain loves American 80s music. We are going to offer music lessons, in Spanish, to people of all ages using drums, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, and piano. We will use clean secular music but also introduce them to contemporary worship music in English and Spanish. As we establish relationships, we will begin inviting the students and their families to our home for meals where we will introduce them to Jesus and the Gospel. If they do not own a Bible, we will give them their own personal copy of God’s Word in Spanish. Once they have a Bible, we will begin studying it together in a group setting in our home. As this group grows, we will begin a church plant and see what God does in the hearts of men and women of all ages!

God gave us a taste of what is to come when we arrive as full-time missionaries in Spain. When we visited Malaga, we explored historical sites around the city all day and returned, wearily, to our hotel room. Our hotel was on the waterfront, and we stood on the balcony watching the sunset as the smell of food and cigarette smoke rose in the air. As darkness fell, young people in their 20-30s flooded the beachfront restaurants and bars below to have a meal, a drink, and a smoke with friends. It was a clear moonlit night, and the water was crashing into the shore.

We saw a small, round concrete pier with benches that was lit by a single streetlight, so we went there with our guitar, cajon, and a tripod. We started a Facebook Live broadcast so our friends at home in the US could see what was happening. As we played and sang, a gentleman named Maverick approached us, sat down to listen, rolled a joint, and started asking questions. He said his Cuban mother named him Maverick because she loved the movie “Top Gun.” Maverick is from France and reported that his spiritual background was interesting, as his father (from Morocco) is a practicing Muslim, though his mom was not. He told us that he did not agree with Islam due to its violent nature and subjugation of women, and that he left home to search for his own life. After explaining to him why we had come to Spain and telling him about Jesus, he listened and smiled, clapped and cheered, played cajon a bit with us as we worshiped and even made a cameo appearance on our FB Live. We prayed for him and encouraged him to read the Bible and investigate Jesus, then we went back to the hotel for the night. This was one of our first nights in Spain and God used our music to draw someone to Him and have a seed planted.

We want to show you a short video that is a about 3 minutes long, from our exploratory trip to Spain, and let you meet Ascension, Maverick, and Ricardo! At the end there are a few pictures of some other people we ministered to as well.

When you put the meanings of the names together of the people God allowed our music to visibly impact, you get: “The rock, the immovable stone, the pure, powerful King is risen!”

While this seems like a calling specific to us, we can’t do this alone. We need people to come alongside us; to partner with us in sincere prayer. Specifically, when you see that it is 3pm on a clock, I’d like to ask you to pray for us and the people of Spain.

We are also building a team of financial partners. In order to teach music and share the gospel with the people of Spain, we need to raise over $6000/month by the end of May 2027. This will allow us to commit 100% of our time to share Jesus with the people in Malaga and Cordoba to grow the kingdom of God! In an effort to reach this goal, we are asking 60 families to partner with us at $100 per month. Would you be on our team so that we can share the gospel with people in the region of Andalusia, Spain?

Giving is quick and easy, it is tax deductible, and you will be investing into the kingdom of God, helping us plant and water seed in Spain.
