About Us

What is a GOTE?

A "gote" (or goit) is an archaic term for a watercourse, channel, ditch, drain, or sluice, historically used to manage or direct water, often for water-mills or in land drainage. The term has roots in Middle English and Old English, signifying a "gutter" or "channel for water".

A GOTE simply directs water to a certain destination.

At the GOTE, we direct people to Jesus, the living water. This is why we chose John 4:10 as our staple passage. The Samaritan woman questioned Jesus after he asked her for a drink at the well and he replies, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

At the GOTE, we want you to know Jesus and we are here to help you as you start and grow your relationship with him. Simply go to the Contact page and tell us how we can help you in your walk with Jesus or contact us for more information about the GOTE. God bless you friend!

...I will build my church-Jesus in Matthew 16:18

What did Jesus mean by "church"? The word church is Ekklesia  in the Greek and it means "called out ones". The Ekklesia are those who have heard the invitation from God and have responded to that invitation by saying "Yes!" to Him. We see this in Acts 2 on the day of Pentecost as thousands of Jews have gathered from all around to offer their first fruits to God. The Holy Spirit fell on Jesus' disciples just as he had promised and Peter, standing with the other eleven, begins to tell the confused Jews what was happening. He tells them this was prophesied by Joel and then he begins to tell them how Jesus was crucified on a cross even though he was innocent, how he was buried in a tomb for three days, and that God has resurrected him from the grave. Then Peter tells them they are guilty of killing their Messiah and in verse 37, they ask, "What should we do?" Peter replies, "Repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins and you will be filled with the Holy Spirit." Thousands heard his message but about 3,000 said "Yes!" and were baptized immediately. That was the beginning of the Ekklesia, the very first ones who were called out and said "Yes!" to the invitation and it is still happening today! Acts 2:47 says the Lord added those who were being saved to the Ekklesia, daily. God is still calling people, Acts 17:30 “God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. Now that you have heard the invitation, are YOU going to say "Yes!" to God?

Jesus Family...

In John 4, Jesus has a life changing conversation with the woman at the well. She runs back to her village telling everyone about him and the entire village comes out to meet him. Listen to their testimony about Jesus from verse 42, "Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard him ourselves. Now we know that he is indeed the Savior of the world.” This woman was a GOTE because she directed Jesus, the living water, to her entire village and they now have a relationship with him!  Will YOU be a GOTE? We would love to have you fellowship with us, or start a GOTE at your home, in your neighborhood! We will be glad to help you! Just click on the Contact page and ask us how you can be a GOTE today! God bless you friend!
